Project Description

Well-known for the Hatfield-McCoy feud and Hatfield-McCoy Trails, the town of Matewan, West Virginia wanted to expand their profile as a tourism hub and historical destination. To show the breadth of activities and attractions, four often-searched categories of information draw visitors in and encourage exploration of the website. The color palette gives a nod to the area’s historic mining and timber industries, while testimonials sprinkled throughout the site tout the accommodating atmosphere of today’s Matewan.

This project was a collaboration between the Matewan community and West Virginia University Reed College of Media. Funding for the project was provided by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.
